MEDITATION
IN EVERYDAY LIFE

A five-week class taught by Kerry Schwartz and Sheila Cataford
Sundays, October 4, 11, 18, 25 and November 1, 2009
10:30-12:30 a.m.        $75 general public; $60 members

MEDITATION IN EVERYDAY LIFE teaches a strong foundation in mindfulness-awareness meditation practice, is suitable for both beginning and experienced meditators, and open to people of any spiritual tradition. Based on the view that basic goodness is a quality inherent in us all, this class also gives practical suggestions for establishing a sitting practice in the midst of our hectic lives. Each of the five Tuesday evening classes allows for open discussion of the challenges we face in our meditation practice and our lives.

Topics:
Peaceful abiding and basic goodness
Gathering the mind and working with emotions
Obstacles to meditation, and solutions
Opening to our genuine heart of sadness
Mindfulness towards the details of our daily life
Meditation and enlightened society

This class is the first in a series of courses called The Way of Shambhala, a path of wisdom teachings and physical practices rooted in the ancient traditions of Shambhala and Tibetan Buddhism. These programs are presented by experienced Shambhala teachers under the guidance of the Shambhala lineage-holder, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche.

Pre-requisite: Everyone is welcome.  Shambhala Training Level I, The Art of Being Human will be offered the weekend of September 25-27, 2009, at the Sonoma Shambhala Center. Level I is desirable but not required.
